The children are only educated if their parents can afford it. The government doesn't make sure that the kids are given every advantage . The kids don't know what they are missing, this is just what they know... that they must go to work and earn enough money to help support their families. We saw kids running all over the Zocolo selling their wares at very young ages. We saw babies asleep an the sidewalks while young mothers begged for money.

OAXACA Mexico

In Dec this year, my dear friend, Vickie and I took a wonderful vacation to Oaxaca Mexico.

What we saw there was eye opening. This is the poorest state in Mexico. Neither one of us had ever been out of the US and this was an experience that I will never forget.

The children are the ones that stuck in my mind. I saw very traditionally dressed girls and then we saw children that more closely resembled the culture. Children were selling what they could to support their families: jewelery, clothing and even their music, for Pecos's.
